(TSX / STATS) -- The Washington Nationals brought back one ace Saturday, less than 24 hours after placing another on the disabled list.

Right-hander Stephen Strasburg was activated to start Saturday night's game at the San Diego Padres, while fellow right-hander Max Scherzer went on the DL Friday night due to left neck inflammation.

Strasburg (10-3, 3.25 ERA) has been sidelined with a right elbow nerve impingement since pitching two scoreless innings against the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 23. He went on the disabled list four days later.
